Geographer

Geographer

Geographer are a band from San Francisco. They are Michael Deni (vocals, guitar, keys, synths and bass), Nathan Blaz (electronics) and Brian Ostreicher (drums). They’ve also had company of several other musicians.

They have released three records; “Innocent Ghosts”, “Kites” and “Animal Shapes” and are nominated as one of “three undiscovered bands you need to hear now” in SPIN Magazine.

Their sound is unique; it’s Nintendo pop (read: old edition) something you can hear in “Paris”. And a carefully crafted mix of electronic pop (both 80’s inspired and new electronic) and synth pop.

“Can’t You Wait” introduce you to a deep and simple mix of electronic pop, with some rock influences. And it makes you somehow think of a mini Polyphonic Spree.

”Rushing in Rushing out” is melodramatically beautiful. And it almost sounds like a modern synth ballad.

Relaxing Music

For just about a year ago, I wrote about relaxing and acoustic music, in an article called “Time to Relax?” Now it’s that time of the year again. It’s cold outside, you spend more time inside and you still need some good relaxing music.
This time I recommend Barbara Hills and John Rhyman.

Barbara Hills
Barbara Hills is a composer, performer, engineer, and producer from England. Who produce dreamy, imaginary and natural music. She has released Scapes (2008) and In the Shadows of Roasting Spring (2009).

This music is like a natural journey. The combination of some classical instruments and a pure natural ambience and harmonic sound makes this music to a classical and dreamy piece of work.

It must be the combination of classical instruments and a steady and at the same time peaceful and relaxing rhythms that gives this music a atmospheric and uplifting sound. And it’s perfect for meditation.

John Rhyman
John Ryhman was born in Montreal, Canada and are now living in Madrid, Spain. His music can be described as uplifting and instrumental new age synth.
He does everything himself, and have so far released five records; Mag(Net)ic Keys, Space Freedom, Enchanted, Autumn Rain and Feelings From The Past.

This music is easy to like if you’re into a mellow and classical piano, combined with a mellow new age sound. The combination of a smooth and uplifting instrumental sound makes this music sound both relaxing and symphonic.

The smooth and floating sound from this music makes this perfect music to daydream to.

Your Twenties

Your Twenties

Your Twenties is a new band from London, born in 2008 and consist of Gabriel Stebbing (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Michael Lovett (backing vocals, bass), James Hoare (backing vocals, guitar), Robin Christian (drums).

The debut EP Caught Wheel was released in the autumn 2009 and consists of three brilliant, original, 60’s a like tracks. This music is easy to like if you’re into experimental pop with a nice touch of psychedelic trash. The combination is unbreakable and can be the first sound of something big.

The debut single “Caught Wheel” is experimental piece of work. The mix of a synthy and acoustic guitar and electro pop makes this to the likes of a modern 80’s track.

The long awaited debut album will be released sometime this year!
