Generationals

Generationals

Generationals are the creation of long time friends Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner. The band formed after their old band “The Eames Era” broke up.

They’re based in New Orleans, have toured with Apples in Stereo, and the debut album “Con Law” was ranked as #26 in Owl and Bear’s Top 30 albums of ’09.

The whole album “Con Law” is a easy listening, and you can hear bits from tromped pop, upbeat pop, retro – 60’s inspired pop, and some good influences from lo-fi inspired psychedelic pop/rock.

“When they Fight, They Fight” is a vintage and funky pop inspired piece of work. That could just as well be a good hit in the good old fashioned days. The mix of an old style and some electronic pop makes this to a good example of “old meet new”.

These United States

These United States

These United States are a musical group from Washington, D. C. They are Jesse Elliott vocals, guitar, Robby Cosenza (drums, vocals), J. Tom Hnatow (steel, guitar), Colin Kellogg (bass, vocals) and Justin Craig (guitar, vocals).

They formed in 2007 and have played more than 500 shows across the United States, United Kingdom, and northern Europe. And released three albums; A Picture Of The Three Of Us At The Gate To The Garden Of Eden (2008), Crimes (2008) and Everything Touches Everything (2009).

They play a lovely and highly enjoyable mix of rock and roll, orchestral roots rock, indie folk, psych folk, pop, garage rock, alternative country and psychedelic rock.

Strong tracks like “Will it Ever”, “First Sight”, “Conquest & Consequence”, and the latest single “Everything Touches Everything” represent perfectly the music genres this band operate with – and are also/just some of (actually) a lot of brilliant songs from these guys.

These United States performed on Baeble Music’s SXSW 2010 Day Party at The Scoot Inn on March 18, in Austin, Texas. And footage of the concert can be seen here.

Baeble Music that host the concert are also arranging a competition for all the fans (living in US)can win one of two prize packs with a signed poster, a TUS American Apparel shirt, and two full sets of all three TUS albums. All they have to do is log into baeblemusic.com using Facebook Connect and post a comment on the concert. Read more about it here!

Little Bushman

Little Bushman

Little Bushman is a four-piece psychedelic classical rock band, based in Wellington, New Zealand. And they are Warren Maxwell, Rick Cranson, Joe Callwood and Tom Callwood.
Little Bushman has so far released “Pendulum” and “The Onus of Sand”.

This music can easily be described like a mix of 70′s psychedelic rock, kiwi rock and experimental rock. Or like hearing Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Quicksilver Messenger Service do something together.

Pendulum is almost magical. It’s what you hear when dreamy and experimental psychedelic music gets mixed together. The combination with the lyrics is brilliant.

Drawn from Bees

Drawn from Bees is an indie/alternative band, based in Queensland, Australia. The members are Dan James (guitar/vocals), Stew Riddle (bass/vocals), Raven Jones (guitar/keys/vocals) and Matt Wedmaier (drums/vocals).

They are a four-piece of musicians that release a new and fresh batch of material every six months. And they are signed to a local Brisbane-based record label, Bonefinger Records, distributed via MGM Distribution.

The Boy and the Ocean was the debut EP, released September 2008. The next EP And the blind Shall Lead the Way came out in March 2009. The latest EP The Sky is Falling was released (ahead of schedule) in October 2009.

The sound of Drawn from Bees is the sound of a band with the crazy idea of releasing as much material on the shortest space of time.

They sounds like a mix of Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Brian Eno, Thomas Dolby and Davie Bowie. And the genre(s) can be qualified as modern art rock, some psychedelic, progressive rock and new wave.

This music is immense and can from time to time be intense (These Philistines), this is also where they have that typical sound of new wave from early the 80′s.

You can hear the mix of modern art rock and alternative in Cables in the Sky and Waiting for the End. A great mix, and the typical sound of Drawn from Bees.
