Mike Lord, singer, songwriter and creator of Stars and Sons was asked 10 Q’s :
1. What’ve you been up to today?
Well we’ve just got back from tour so I’m just doing a few things to squeeze myself back into a semi-normal state of existence. Tidying my room for starters.
2. What makes you happy?
Sunshine, the beach, Tabasco sauce.
3. Who or what inspires you?
Great music, Jewish humour, original thinkers, the incessant desire to impress your parents whilst they are still alive. Usual stuff.
4. What was the first song you learned to play?
Hmmmmm. I think it may have been Tom Petty’s ‘Free Falling’, though those chords would have had me set for any number of songs really.
5. What’s your favourite flower?
The daisy. My niece’s favourite also.
6. Who would you like to record a song with?
Dave Fridmann. He is a good producer.
7. If you had one day left to live, what would you do?
Hmm intense.. Well, I’d try to get together with my loved ones and spent some time in a grassy field, reminiscing about the older, slightly less morbid times.
8. What was the last song you listened to?
I was listening to some Ennio Morricone this morning. The music from ‘A fistful of dynamite’ is great. Definitely contributed to the slow and stately pace of my room tidying.
9. Who would you say is the most underrated musician in the history?
My good friend Aaron King.
10. What’s your top 5 favorite albums of all time?
This is always quite a transient subject, so I’ll give you a non-definative 5 that are particularly precious to me.
Scott Walker- Scott 4
The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds
The Avalanches- Since I left you
My Bloody Valentine- Loveless
Elliott Smith- (Self Titled)
