Klezma Villanova are a young and upcoming gypsy folk band based in London. Being inspired by gypsy punk milieus in Eastern Europe and Asia, and with  a modern gypsy punk and retro folk style, this band can easily become one of the most popular bands from this genre in the near future.

They’ve so far released one EP “Rushing The Borders” (2009) and are currently touring around the UK.

The first thing you’ll notice about Act of Congress is the originality and fresh acoustic folk sound. They were formed back in Alabama by college friends Chris Griffin and Adam Wright, the rest of the band joined them one by one later. Only the last three years they’ve been recognized and performed for/by companies such as SXSW, Disney, United States Military, NACA, APCA and Billboard.

This music sound familiar, happy and the feeling and the sound of upbeat harmonies, makes this music to a fresh bluegrass vintage country soul musical experience.

Caravan Palace is the creation of some highly talented musicians from Paris. Think electro-swing, French love movies – and the musical outcome of it, Parisian paleo-punks, classical future jazz, heavy violin jazz and funky gypsy jazz. And modern, go retro jazz being high on life, and you’ll get this stuff.

“Caravan Palace” (2009) is the first album from this guys, but you should believe it’s one of many. It’s absolutely addictive; each song is able to stand out alone, and they can make jazz sound awesome.

The Cat Empire is one of the funkiest (if not the most funky band) bands from Australia. They’ve had more lineup changes than Wings (sorry!) and create music based on everything you can associate with summer and holidays. They’re known for their brilliant live shows and have pretty much been on tour since the formation in 2001.

The core members and original empires are Ollie McGill and Ryan Monro, who makes the music alive and as good as it is.

One of the breaking new trends of today’s hip hop is a mixture of electro hip hop, ghetto and street ska. Something The Anomalies carry out perfectly. On the band’s debut album “Free Soup Social” you’ll hear everything from a gangsta and classical inspired ‘Employee of the Month”, to a experimental funky alike “1830”.

The whole album is a chapter for itself, and represents an upbeat and eclectic interpretation of this new style of hip hop.

Kill it Kid was one of the newcomers on the UK music scene last year, and a band to bring back the unique sound of Americana blues, bluegrass and dark jazz. Lead vocalist Chris Turpin voice is immense and could remind you of a dark blues-alike Anthony Hegarty, something that suit this somehow mysterious music quite well.

The band released debut album “Kill it Kid” last year.

Charlie Winston won a price for best UK artist in Europe in 2008, have two musical siblings, has toured with Peter Gabriel, covered The Spencer Davies Group’s “I’m a Man” for the advert of Volkswagen Polo – that later was banned by RSPCA and creates modern oldies jazz. It’s brilliant stuff!

He have two albums out: “Make Way” (2007) and “Hobo” (2009).

From one Charlie to another; The Rumble Strips is a ska/pop/rockabilly/soul/trumpet band originating from South Devon town Tavistock, near Plymouth, but are now based in London, having moved to further their musical career.
Having released two albums “Girls and Weather” (2007) and “Welcome to the Walk Alone” (2009), and lead vocalist Charlie Waller has sung lead vocals on Mark Ronson’s “Back to Black”. The Rumble Strips has been known for a very eclectic and still ungenrable style with quirky lyrics about pretty much everything. Even the joy of poking other people in the eyes. Eh..

The mixture of indie rock songwriting, socially conscious lyrics, and roots reggae rhythms has long been a staple in the jam band world, and State Radio delivers on all counts.

State Radio is a band who activity through their music represent and support causes for promoting human rights, woman’s right, activism against the war in Iraq, awareness for genocide in Sudan, and work with people with special needs and autism and the fight for equal status.

Israel-born New Yorkers Ori Kaplan and Tamir Muskat, Balkan Beat Box plays Mediterranean-influenced music that incorporates traditions from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and New York electronica. Both men had plenty of experience playing in various eclectic bands before starting Balkan Beat Box, among others; Gogol Bordello, Balkan Beat Box’s brother band.
