The Mekkits

The Mekkits are five childhood friends (Mark Bristol, James Chambers, Adam Costello, Richard Sims, David Smith and Steve – a mysterious 6th member of the band) from Manchester.

They’re known for having a surfy and sea breezed sound, heavily inspired by ska, folky surf and some psychedelic (Bears in the Wood). The music is perfectly combined with some great vocals, and it makes the music easy to like.

Inland Sea EP is the latest release (released on 30th November) from The Mekkits, and it’ a concept release inspired by  Anglesey (North West Wales), a place close to their hearts.

They are currently working on the debut album, ready for a 2010 release.

This concept gives you everything good of ska, surfy pop and some alternative dub. It’s upbeat and energetic.

And if you listen to the all the songs from beginning to end, you’ll experience a good mix of good music mixture, great and innovative vocals and find out how alive one simple EP can be.
