Mean Poppa Lean

Mean Poppa Lean
Mean Poppa Lean (MPL) is a funky band based on Brighton, and consisting of Christian Jennings Barnes (vocals), C-Dogg (guitar), Danny Bass (bass) and Grills (drums). And apparently The Horny Brassholes on trumpet and trombone.
This music is what you can call funny funk. The music is eternal steady and creative active. So you don’t have to worry about having a boring moment.
This is perfect music for those who like funky ska combined with some funny and honest lyrics. The generous doses of soulful vocals are one of the main reasons why this music is so great.
Another great reason is the last single ‘Sheryl Crow’. It has all of the typical elements of Mean Poppa Lean; the funny and quirky lyrics, a good and steady funk dub rhythm and some really cool background musical noises.
Nice review, Sheryl Crow is now a single , available to pre-order on Amazon, release date 26th Oct 2009. MPL kick of a 23 date UK tour tonight (30th Sept) at The Bowery in Sheffield, so catch them live near you.
Mean Poppa Lean also just got nominated for ‘The Critics Choice’ Award for best performance in The Great Escape festival earlier this year, it’s very good timing for a very busy Autumn.
